During my internship, I was involved in several projects. You can find further information here:
Weg vom Sofa Guide Schulklassen
The guide for school classes includes 12 coupons that school classes can use on their field trip. We contacted about 400 sports centers to reach our goal of 12 sports centers. Some centers did not like the idea of school classes, others did not want to pay, and others just did not get the initial email with the information. My main task was to call sports centers and try to get them to commit. After getting the 12 sport centers to commit we were in the process of designing the layout of the guide with the help of graphic designers. I was following up with the sports centers to see whether they agreed to the layout and to get their okay to print the guide.
Weg vom Sofa Guide für Unternehmen
During my last week, we had an insurance company request several guides in specific geographic areas. My first task was to use our database to find potential sports centers and then search for more online. After the emails with information had gone out to the sports centers, the process of following up and persuading sports centers to participate started. In this case, the centers did not even need to pay for their participation in the guide and therefore basically got free advertising, what made it a lot easier to persuade sports centers.
Weg vom Sofa Guide Funsport
The funsport Guide was already in production when I came so I was involved in creating strategies to sell these guides. After we found a super market that agreed to sell several of the guides we had to make some special adjustments to the guide. They requested we added barcodes in the back and a sticker with a special price in the front. Since the guides were already printed, they sent us stickers with the barcodes and the special price and me and another intern spent quite a few hours putting the barcodes and price stickers in place before delivering the guides.
Interviews for the Blog
For the interview section of the blog, I used my connections to professional athletes and we created 10 short questions to introduce the athletes. I was responsible for creating the questions, interviewing the athletes, get pictures we could use (copyright etc.). The blog is created to introduce different sports and sporting events to the readers. As funpool is a sports network with many different sports centers as our partners it is the goal to inform about sports other than soccer (since that is by far the number 1 sport in Germany). With me having contacts especially within track and field and some other sports through my time at a boarding school for athletes, we thought it would be a nice thing to introduce some athletes that people might not know. Many of the athletes are/were unknown to most Germans even though they are really good at their sports. The interviews were intended to give a little introduction to those athletes and also show the personalities of the athletes a little bit. Fun fact: The javelin thrower I interviewed for the blog ended up winning Olympic Gold in Rio.
